Titanium TinkleBerry: The Whiner part 2

So the idea of being free from the works of the law does not lend to lawlessness. In other words, it doesn’t mean that we don’t live by rules or laws in our life. But instead of following a book a rules that are inflexible and rigid, we are to be led by the Holy Spirit. He will give us peace and lead us to succeed at whatever we do. As we can see from the passage above believing and trusting in God is our work now that Jesus is a part of our lives. However, believing and trusting in a God that we know nothing about is a tall order. So is trusting in a Spirit that you can’t see. This why developing a personal relationship with the Trinity, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, is so important.

Titan and I have a great relationship. I spent a lot of time bonding with him. We bond through hardships like when we were chased by the neighbor’s dogs. We bond when I discipline him for doing things like eating the wrong food. We bond when we walk and play together. We are even bonding through his whining when I meet him at his point of need. My relationship with Titan isn’t automatic. The relationship we have isn’t what it is because I am his master and he is my dog. We have this relationship because I spent a great deal of time with him. I chose to engage and understand him. I want him to trust me and come to me when he is in need.
God wants the same thing from us. He wants us to trust Him and come to Him when we are in need. He knows we will never do that unless we develop a personal relationship with Him. Why do I say a “personal relationship”? Because when the relationship becomes personal the Holy Spirit can be heard clearly. Having a personal relationship brings insights that would otherwise be known to us. For example, my husband lives in the same house as I do. He is around the Titan a lot. But he is less understanding of Titan’s actions and less forgiving of the consequences of his actions. He is annoyed faster and he gets upset easier. He is disappointed often. He doesn’t expect the best. He doesn’t give Titan the benefit of the doubt. Titan’s puppiness is an annoyance first.
