Satisfaction in Self-Multilation part 2

How do we control a situation that is seemingly out of our control but is personal enough to cause us pain? That is definitely a hard question to answer. So to the bible we go… Ok in Matthew 11:28 NIV, Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Jesus loves us. I know that you heard that before and it might be kind of cliché to you, however if you will allow Him Jesus does give us rest from our troubles.
When we read the bible, we hear Jesus say some remarkable and seemingly impossible things. One of the commands that He gives us is Don’t Worry. Don’t do what? It is very naturally human to pass the time consumed with the negative possibilities of the future. But, as if He doesn’t understand the human condition, in Matthew 6:25 AMP Jesus says: “Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing?”
The command may seem out of touch with the human condition but when we dig into what He is saying it makes sense. He asked “is not life greater than food and clothing?” Is your life and my life worth more than that dark spots on our faces or those 10 extra pounds that cause us not to look like the model in the magazine? Is our life worth more than the current situation that is causing us temporary pain? Will this too pass? Does time continue to march on anyways?
