Receiving Direction part 3

Strongholds that have control over us help in driving our desire to be directed. They cause issues in our everyday lives that keep us looking of help. An alcoholic gets married to a wife but in reality he is already married to his liqueur. It controls his every decision and influences his life. It is a stronghold. The person that has a love affair with money is in constant search of it. The obsession clouds his judgement when making decisions. His view is bias to fulling his quest. He deals with jealousy and materialism and hatred. He is in constant search for the direction that will give him the maximum for his buck. Memory issues drive my direction and decisions the pursuit to retain memories throws me off balance at times. It causes me to seem callus and uncaring to others. It interferes with my relationships and is sometimes a source of anger for myself and the people that know me personally. But the bible speaks much of this subject matter.

· My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; My savior, You save me from violence. 2 Samuel NIV
· The LORD also will be a stronghold for the oppressed, A stronghold in times of trouble. Psalm 9:9 NIV
· No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV

There are so many but I wanted you to notice that God wants to be our only stronghold as we see in Psalm 9:9. I also wanted you to notice that 1 Corinthians 10:13 encourages us that we have been empowered to handle this life. Romans 12:2 ESV tells us how, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Creating a stronghold takes time and dedication. It takes engaging and listening and doing. Our bridegroom wants to give us direction, to protect us and guide us and give us peace in our spirits. We should let Him. We should invest in Him. Strongholds are known for one thing for sure, they change your life. It is up to us in what direction.
